Winnifred (Dumond) Moore, 87 of Methuen, MA passed away Friday, December 22 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, MA.
Winnie was born in Millinocket, ME August 24th 1930 to Charles and Bernice Dumond. The Dumond family moved to Franklin, NH when Winnie was in grammar school. Winnie graduated from Franklin High School in 1949 and got a job working in the office of The J. P. Stevens Mill, where she met her future husband William C. Moore. Winnie and Bill got married in 1954, and moved to Andover, MA where they raised their family of 5 children. William (Smokey) Moore was a firefighter in Andover for 30 years.
Winnie was a stay at home housewife until her children were all in school, then she took a job as a teacher’s aide in the Andover Public School system. Winnie was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine’s church in Andover. Upon retirement in 1989, Winnie and Bill moved to Florida and lived there for 15 years before returning to New England to settle in Londonderry, NH and later Methuen, MA. Winnie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family for the holidays. Winnie especially enjoyed watching her children and later in life her 9 grandchildren play sports.
Winnie is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William C. Moore. Winnie will be greatly missed by her sons, James M. Moore and his wife Marian of Methuen, MA, Brian W. Moore and his wife Kathy of Londonderry, NH, Kevin P. Moore and his wife Janet of North Port, Florida, Barry T. Moore and his wife Karen of Tewksbury, MA, and daughter Sandra DiBurro and her husband Robert of Methuen, MA, a sister Carole Dumond of Franklin, NH and sister Tina Rossi and her husband Alfred of Fayetteville, GA. Winnie (Grammy) leaves 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, December 29, at 10 AM at St. Augustine Church, Andover. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery also in Andover.
