Traditional Burial

The Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home offers a wide range of funeral services.  We like to stress that a funeral service should be celebrating the life of the loved one who has died, and meaningful to those who remain. Families and friends have the opportunity to come together to share a sense of loss, to offer support, and to remember and acknowledge the life of someone they love.  Many of our families choose traditional burial services as their personal way to honor their loved one.  There are generally three types of burial services, but each particular service is customized to the needs and wants of the family.

• Traditional Service with a Visitation on one day, and the Funeral Service is held either at Church or the Funeral Home on the following day. Friends and Family usually go in procession to the cemetery for burial following the service.
  
• One Day Traditional Service with a period for visitation prior to the Funeral Service and burial. All services take place in one day.  The service following the visitation may take place either at the funeral home or the church and then a procession to the cemetery for burial.
  
• A Graveside Service is a form of traditional service but adapted in that all services are held entirely at the cemetery or mausoleum. The casket is not usually open for a public viewing, but arrangements can be made to do so. Family and friends meet at the cemetery at a predetermined time, and there is no funeral procession.
  

Regardless of what type of traditional burial service you choose, we encourage our families to customize and personalize the services as much as possible.  Just as each loved one is unique, each funeral service should be unique and designed with each families needs in mind.
