It's been a year and a half and my heart is still in pieces. I thought the pain would ease, but every day, at different times through each day, my chest tightens, my heart sinks, and the pain returns. We all still miss you so much Tre. Glenn and your children have it worse of course, so I offer my pain and loss up for them, praying that the hole you left in our family is filled with blessings as sweet and wonderful as you. That would be a miracle of course, but because we had you in our lives for even a short time, we all believe in beautiful miracles. I'm very much looking forward to being with you again. Give Mom and Dad hugs for us till we get there.

John 13:7 - Jesus answered and said to him, "What I do you do not realize now, but will understand hereafter." This chapter and verse was not about death but feel it is appropriate, it applies to so much more. I remain open minded and believe there will come a day I understand.
I often reminisce about our conversations; face to face, over the phone, or via text. I thought I was suppose to be a mentor to you, it was the opposite... I love and miss you Theresa.

I'm sorry to hear of your family's profound loss. I remember Theresa from way back in 1986, when she worked with her brother (coach Paul), scorekeeping for the girls' softball team I was on in Methuen. She was a huge supporter of the team (we won the whole thing that summer!) and was obviously a sweet and much-loved person.

I was Theresa's sixth grade teacher and was so upset to read of her suffering and passing. She was the cutest girl ever, and always had a smile for everyone. She was always bubbly, kind, hard working, and all the other positive adjectives you can put in front of a person's name. Whenever I heard her name over the years, I would smile. What a great gift she was to all of those in her life. That twelve year old girl will live in my heart forever.

I posted this to Facebook also : As a breast cancer patient this is just horrifying. It validate every fear I have about my own mortality. Theresa was a lovely soul. She smiled through adversities. I knew her for only a brief period in life sitting together on a bench cheering for our children. She alluded hope and surely didn't let cancer define her presence. I had no idea then - seeing her struggles what that truly felt like. How can anyone truly empathize with what she was going through if they themselves did not go through it. All I could do then was sympathize. Today, in this moment, I can empathize. Cancer has a way of strangulating your heart and forcing you to to see each moment in a way you've never seen it before. In 2011, the earlier days, we (Dracut Girls Volleyball) honored her struggle and supported her valiant effort to fully live life despite the hand she had been dealt. The years following became her new life. I'm horribly sad for her family. For cancer never changed the way she felt about them and I can guarantee her love had no bounds especially as it relates to those she cherished. On a personal level - I'm saddened and angry and fearful. Cancer does not discriminate. It alters the lives of so many wonderful, loving, and brilliant people. As I write this - I hope those that were close to her on an intimate level, continue to advocate for a cure, support and encourage those dealing and living with a cancer diagnosis, and never forget that cancer does not define people but reshapes them into who they become. Rest in peace Theresa - I promise to fight your fight - to make a difference - to honor you and all those who are no longer here to do so.

Theresa and I went through 12 years of school together and lived close to eachother and though we lost touch over the years whenever I would see her she treated me as if we never lost a day.
