I first met Phil when I was 15 years old when I became friendly with the Laverriere family at the Beacon Projects. I remember him sitting on the steps playing his guitar and I could hear his voice from two houses away. He drew a crowd of children who came to hear him sing and it is a memory that I often talk about. My brother and I and a few friends started playing guitar hoping that we could play and sing half as well as Phil. My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace Phil.

About 50 years ago, Phil convinced me, a high school drop-out, that his agency could help turn my life around. He was so right. The Neighborhood Youth Corps helped so many low-income, unchallenged youth. Programs developed by GLCAC, inc assisted so many even when just a little nudge was needed. Feeling fortunate to have been influenced by his dedication to community services. Condolences to his family. I'm a friend of Phils and am thankful for his influence.

To Phil's family and friends and of both, I know there are many for all he met and served in this life, Phil regarded as both, my prayers are with you. The celebration of the life of one so dedicated to others cannot be marked by one event, for all who knew Phil carry a memory of him in their hearts. In the end, the mark of a person is in the good they have done and Phil was unsurpassed in this. Rest well, my friend, it is a rest you have well earned.

Met Phil when he was in a country western house band. Remember the Saturday morning meetings for postcard shows. Remember when I was the bartender, that Phil and Joe would fetch a guitar a half hour before closing and we stayed a long time after closing. Most of all I remember that he was a friend. May he rest in peace..
