Nellie (Matachun) Wright, 101, of Methuen passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Oxford in Haverhill.

The daughter of the late Andrew and Ursula Matachun, Nellie was born in Lawrence on July 3, 1915. She was educated in Lawrence schools. For many years, she was employed in the local textile mills, and later as a presser at White Rose Laundry in Lawrence, from where she retired. She was a lifelong area resident. During World War II, she was very active in the war effort.

Predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Wright and her daughter, Andrea, Nellie is survived by a nephew and his wife, Andrew and Barbara Dube; nieces, Janet Dube, and Doris Cronan and her husband Joseph, all of Hamden, CT, and Ursula Bonczek and her husband Phillip of Florida; and her caregiver and guardian, Celia Atkinson of Methuen.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church-Corpus Christi Parish, Essex St., Lawrence. Burial will take place in the spring in the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Methuen. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to call Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Charles F.
