Maureen S. Crabtree, 73 years of age, residing in Methuen, Massachusetts passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Thursday 7/9/2015 after a long battle with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts in May of 1942 to Alice (Pringle) Walsh and James Patrick Walsh.  Maureen attended Lawrence High School where she was known to her friends as “Moe.”  She held various positions over the years but most enjoyed volunteering at Meals on Wheels delivering meals to home-bound elders.  She loved quilting, needlecraft and ceramics and was very talented at drawing.  She gave consistently to a number of charities. 

Maureen is survived by her husband H. Roger Crabtree, her son Matthew Crabtree of Methuen and her daughter Elizabeth Casey and her husband Joseph Casey of Chester, NH.  She leaves 4 grandchildren: Catherine Casey, Nicholas Casey, Ashley Casey and Sean Casey of Chester, New Hampshire.  She is also survived by a sister, Jacqueline Walsh Barnes of Valdosta, Georgia.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday July 16, 2015 from 9 to 10:30 AM at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday in St.Monica Church, Methuen. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
