Donald was my literature teacher in the Tyngsboro School System from the 6th grade (1966 in Rodenbush School in Westford) and on into high school. He had a mastery of the art and was always devoted to teaching us every session. He had the distinction of being the only teacher ever to give me a disciplinary after school session that was later retracted when all of the female students came to my support in the 7th grade at Lakeview School. He was loved by all He had a special devotion to his students.

I had a particularly intimate session with him that I will never forget. I just turned 11 years old at the time and I lost both parents as a child at 10 years. I was so distraught and I trusted him to keep everything confidential. I broke down in his office and he comforted me back into serenity. I'll never forget it. It helped me turn around an incredibly difficult time and get very interested in school. I have never told anyone this story. Not even my guardian parents John & Ellen Trearchis or classmates. This is the first time.

I am the cousin of the Trearchises and was in the same class with George Trearchis all the way from 6th to 12th grades. I grew up in the Trearchis family in Tyngsboro since I was 10 years old. I came from Burlington, MA and had attended elementary school there up until 1966.

Some other notables in the Class of 1973 were Jeanne Denomee, Donald Rand, Rich Lannon, Diane Johnson, Kevin Knox, William Lamb, Gary Hatfield, and many others.

I remember him finishing his masters degree while I was in high school. He spoke about it a number of times.

I will never forget what he did for me. The least I can do is give you some consoling and I hope this message brings a little more happiness into your life.

My condolences to the Chase family. Don was a former teacher and co-worker of mine. I would see him each year when I did inspections in the Methuen area. Always enjoyed talking to him and sharing stories. He was a great guy and will be missed.

Sharon and family:
I spoke at length with Donald at the high school reunion as if we had just seen each other yesterday. I knew and played with him and David when I went to St. Andrews Church across from his house. What a great man, easy to talk with and a great humility and a wonderful sense of humor. I only wish I could have spent more time getting to know him. My condolence to you and your family at this trying time. Regards, Jim Morris
