Helen M. Comeau, 82, of Andover, MA passed away February 25, 2015. Helen was born on January 1, 1933 on Juliette Street in Andover.  She was the daughter of Joseph P and Marguerite (Goguen) Comeau of New Bruswick, Canada.  She attended Sacred Heart Elementary in Lawrence, Mass and Sacred Heart Girls High School, Lawrence.  After high school she attended Merrimack College and Suffolk Law University.  

       Helen was a remarkable woman.  She was the first student from her all girl high school to receive a law degree.  Eventually, she had opened her own successful law office in downtown Andover and decided to pursue another passion - retail.  Just around the corner from her law office she opened a clothing boutique, “The Apple Tree Shop”.  She enjoyed selecting clothes for her clientele and her zest led her to do her own buying from the houses in NYC, as well as local fashion houses.  With two businesses going strong she still found time for other interests, such as running for State Senator in 1970, traveling, cooking, and painting. Due to her impressive accomplishments she was honored by having her name placed in the yearly publications of,  “The Most Outstanding Young Businesswoman in America”, “The Most Outstanding Young Women in America”, “Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans”, and “Community Leaders of America”.  Helen was a parishioner of (the former) Sacred Heart Parish, Lawrence and St. Augustine’s parish, Andover, and her love of faith kept her working closely with the Marist and Augustinian orders as well as the Third Order of Mary. Also, for several years Helen volunteered her time providing weekly food to the Lazarus House. Her nieces, nephew, grandnieces and grandnephews were very special to her.  She truly enjoyed spending time with them. Whether it was playing cards, telling stories, or sparking up a political debate, she will never be forgotten and greatly missed.

         Helen is survived by her brother Joseph E Comeau and sister-in-law Joan Comeau of Andover; her niece Elizabeth Farnham and her husband Paul of Andover; her nephew Peter Comeau and his wife Sue of Andover; her niece Jane Kobelski and her husband Brian of Andover, and her grandnieces and nephews PJ, Pat, Cameron, Joey, Courtney, Mikey, Matt, Maggie, Lizzie, Abby, Timmy, and Emily.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 9:30 to 10:30am at St. Augustine’s Church, 35 Essex Street, Andover, MA. A funeral mass will begin after the calling hours at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Helen's memory to Lazarus House Ministries, Inc., P.O.
