Mary L. Hildebrandt, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 15, 2015 at Lawrence General Hospital following a brief illness.

Mary was born in Haverhill, grew up in Amesbury and graduated from St. James High School, Haverhill, MA. She lived most of her life in Methuen with her husband and five daughters.  Mary worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA, retiring in 1997. She was a long-time active member of Forest Street Union Church and could often be seen enjoying various activities at the Methuen Senior Center following her retirement.  Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her five daughters and their families. 

Mary was pre-deceased by her parents Oswald and Ellen Jorgensen and her husband Alfred R. Hildebrandt to whom she was married for 54 years. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Susan Harbour and her companion David Cole, Evelyn Simmers and her husband Randolph Rienth, June Sparks and her husband Roger, Joan Scionti and her husband Jeffrey and Amy White and her husband Kevin.  She leaves her grandchildren Matthew Simmers and his wife Natasha, Jillian Simmers, Kathryn and Anna Scionti, Shelby, Whitney and Emma White and her great granddaughters Nina and Katerina Simmers.  She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Adelaide Burns, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Ann Hildebrand and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and loved ones are invited to call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 19th at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will be held the following day on Wednesday, May 20th at 10:00 am at Forest Street Union Church, 15 Forest Street, Methuen.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. Memorial Donations may be made, in Mary’s name, to Forest Street Union Church (15 Forest Street, Methuen, MA 01844) or the Methuen Senior Center (77 Lowell Street, Methuen, MA 01844).
