Irene O. (Sheehan) Brandy, 87, formerly of Salisbury MA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Nevins Nursing Home in Methuen MA., where she was a resident for the past 3 years.

Irene is predeceased by her husband, William F. Brandy and her brother, Joseph T. O’Brien both of Methuen, She leaves a sister in law, Carol A. O’Brien of Dracut and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was employed as an Assistant Manager of Transmission Equipment Manufacturing at the former Western Electric plant in North Andover where she worked for 35 years until her retirement in 1985. She was the first woman to become a department head and at that time the only female third level manager.

Irene was an active member in the Lady Elks, American Legion, Holy Family, and Eagles Pioneers, earning numerous certificates for her participation.

She was known for her sharp wit and passionate love for her family.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Dewhirst Funeral Home at 80 Broadway in Methuen. A Funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am at Saint Monica’s Church at 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
