Evelyn passed away peacefully on Saturday November 26, surrounded by her family at the Halcyon House in Methuen.

Evelyn is survived by her sons Edward M. Benson Jr. and wife Diana, Dwight Benson, daughter Nancy Yastrzemski and husband Carl, and her twins Russell Benson and wife Anna and Rodney Benson and wife Carol, and Grandchildren Sandra, Candace, Matthew, Kevin, Douglas, Johnny, Erica, and Nina and Great Grandchildren Kylie, Brianna and Bailey.

Evelyn was born in Harrison, New Jersey and moved to Massachusetts in the 1950’s. Evelyn was a long time resident of Methuen and beloved member of the First Church Congregational for decades. Evelyn was also very active at the Methuen Senior Center and was a member of the Mother of Twins Club. Evelyn was a homemaker and later worked at the IRS Andover Service Center for more than twenty years.

Evelyn was the most loving mother, family was everything to her.  She loved her neighbors on Oakland Avenue and all their many years of special times. Evelyn enjoyed life! She was always active and showed kindness and sunshine to everyone she met. We will miss you Ma! 

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the chapel at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Methuen Senior Center, the Halcyon House, 175 Berkeley Street in Methuen and First Church Congregational.
