Bernadette J. LaPlante, 97, of Methuen, formerly of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Sutton Hill Nursing Center. She was born March 9, 1918 in Lawrence, MA. The daughter of Eugene and Melvina Martineau, she was one of eight children who have all predeceased her.

She was raised and educated in Lawrence. She was a longtime employee at Western Electric. Bernie, as she was called, enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Bernadette was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1988.

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Minasian and her husband Robert, daughter Linda Begin and her husband Raymond. She also leaves four grandchildren, Erica Begin and husband Mark, Robyn Russo and husband Joseph, Robert, Ashley Landers and husband Daniel. She also leaves six great grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia, Joseph, Benjamin, Emilie and Annabel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Claire Muse, Steward Hospice and the staff at Sutton Hill Nursing Center for their loving care.

At the family’s request, there are no calling hours. Funeral and burial will be private, under the direction of the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home.
