William A. Miller, 85, of Andover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
The son of the late Benjamin and Doris (Downs) Miller, William was born in Andover, MA on July 16, 1935. He was raised and educated in Andover. For over 40 years, he owned and operated Shawsheen Auto Service in the Ballardvale section of Andover, until his retirement. In his younger years, he was an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Town of Andover. He was a long-time member of the St. Matthew’s Lodge, AF&AM of Andover. He was the proud owner of his antique 1930 Ford pick-up truck, and also enjoyed playing computer games. He was a lifelong Andover resident.
William is survived by a nephew, Brian Miller of Townsend, MA; a niece and her husband, Cheryl and Charles Booth of Derry, NH; a grandniece, Olivia Miller; a grandnephew, Derek Booth; dear friends, Dennis Surette of Stoneham, MA and Jeff Leeds of Andover, MA.
William was predeceased by his brother, Bartley Miller.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
