The son of Sterling Boardman and the late Jean Boardman, Vernon was
born on July 17,1961 in Dover, NH.
The family moved to Everett, MA shortly after and during that time he
made several life long friends who he always kept in touch with.
When he was 16 the family moved to Portsmouth, NH where he worked
various jobs the last as a teller at Bank of America and part time at
the NW Barrett Gallery. Vernon took great pride in everything he did
which is why he had so many loyal customers some becoming friends.
He loved to travel in his younger years going to Florida, California,
Quebec City, Vienna, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, England and Germany.
He taught himself German and made friends with a family there that
treated him like a son . People would often come to Vernon for travel
tips and would return thanking him for helping make their trips more
memorable.
He had a great eye for taking photographs and enjoyed oil painting. He
also loved to write letters and cards of cheer and encouragement to
people.
Vernon was a true Townie, he loved the city of Portsmouth and they
loved him right back. Even when illness struck and it took great effort
he would get dressed in his Sunday best and go into town to his favorite
coffee shops and restaurants where he would meet and converse with
friends both old an new.
He is survived by his father Sterling Boardman of Portsmouth, NH, his
sister Diana Erbach and husband Scott of Rochester, NH, his Uncle Owen
