Theodore C. “Ted” Rademacher, 86, of Andover, formerly of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital.
The son of the late Henry and Elsa (Lattner) Rademacher, Ted was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 18, 1937. He was a graduate of the Chicago School System and furthered his education at Illinois Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Army, with the United States Army Security Agency at Fort Devens, MA from 1960-63. He was employed as an engineer/technician for Seeburg Corporation. For over 35 years, Ted was employed at Bon Secours/Holy Family Hospital, primarily as Director of Engineering, from where he retired. A resident of Methuen since 1965, Ted was very active in community affairs. He attended St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Methuen Council. He was a member and past President of the Methuen Lions Club. He served on the Methuen Community Development Board. Ted volunteered for Ski for Light (an organization which provides for guides for visually impaired adults to enjoy cross-country skiing). As a child, Ted spent summers at his aunt and uncle’s ranch in Spearfish, South Dakota. He performed many times in the Black Hills Passion Play. Ted loved sailing and enjoyed summer vacations with his wife and children and their families in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. A very handy person, he built an addition to his house and added a second floor to his garage for an art studio for his wife, Joan. He enjoyed constructing stained glass windows that Joan designed. Ted even tried his hand at hang-gliding.
Ted is survived by his wife, Joan C. (Stackelin) Rademacher of Andover; his sons, Karl Rademacher and his wife, Michelle (Picone), of Methuen: grandchild, Aja and husband Dan Weightman and great grandchildren, Jaxon, Xander, Maddox; grandchild, Liam; son, Douglas Rademacher and his wife Cynthia (Davis) of Warwick, RI; grandchildren, Max and his wife Dana (Trismen), Emma and Jake; son, Michael Rademacher and his wife, Annie (Schwab) of Arlington, MA; grandchildren, Sally, Otto, and Elsa; and nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elsa Rademacher and his brothers, Fred Rademacher and Billy Rademacher.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy’s Church, Merrimack St., Methuen everyone please meet at Church. Burial will follow with military honors in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ted may be made to Lazarus House, PO Box 408, Lawrence, MA 01842.
