In 2014, her and her husband moved to the United States to stay close to their daughter and granddaughter.

Sotira grew up in a close knitted family with three brothers, Jorgo Tata, Diogjen Tata, Andrea Tata, and her sister, Antonta Gjoka. During her life she managed to bring warm smiles and happiness to anyone who crossed paths with her. She was known for her strength and perseverance to overcome all life’s challenges. Despite all adversary, Sotira still managed to keep a heart filled with gratitude and always shined a light during dark times. She enjoyed cooking and believed all decisions should be made with a full stomach. Sotira took pride in being the grandmother of a U.S Marine and ensured everyone knew it.
