Sotira Nikaj Obituary

Sotira Nikaj was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on February 8, 2021 at the age of 70. She was born to Katerina and Sotir Tata on August 29, 1950 in Tepelene, Albania. After graduating high school, she worked in a factory where later on she met her husband, Latif Nikaj. Together, they had one daughter, Anila Nikaj. 20 years later, Sotira was blessed with a granddaughter, Kristi Xhavara, who she raised with the same love and care as her daughter. In 2014, her and her husband moved to the United States to stay close to their daughter and granddaughter.

Sotira grew up in a close knitted family with three brothers, Jorgo Tata, Diogjen Tata, Andrea Tata, and her sister, Antonta Gjoka. During her life she managed to bring warm smiles and happiness to anyone who crossed paths with her. She was known for her strength and perseverance to overcome all life’s challenges. Despite all adversary, Sotira still managed to keep a heart filled with gratitude and always shined a light during dark times. She enjoyed cooking and believed all decisions should be made with a full stomach. Sotira took pride in being the grandmother of a U.S Marine and ensured everyone knew it. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling to new places.

She is predeceased by her husband, Latif Nikaj, who passed in 2014. She is survived by her daughter Anila Nikaj, her granddaughter Kristi Xhavara, her siblings Jorgo Tata, Diogjen Tata, and Andrea Tata. Sotira also left behind numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and live forever in our hearts. Her soul is in paradise and watching over us until we meet again.
