Sonia V. Kacher of Andover, Massachusetts passed away on July 20 surrounded by her loved ones. Sonia was born on December 23, 1938 in Uppsala, Sweden to Anna and Olof Larsson. Sonia met and married her former husband, William (Bill) Kacher, in Germany in 1958. After Bill’s tour of duty with the US Army was over, the couple moved to Massachusetts where they raised their three daughters. Sonia was the loving mother of Angela Ackroyd of Newburyport, Susan Boudreau and her husband George of Newburyport and she was predeceased by her daughter Ingrid McSweeney, son-in-law Rand Ackroyd and grandson Patrick Boudreau. She was also Nana to Cuyler Ackroyd of Las Vegas, NV and William Boudreau of Newburyport.
Up until her time of passing, Sonia enjoyed antiquing and for many years operated an antique jewelry business in Andover. She was known for her knowledge and expertise regarding antique jewelry and sold beautiful treasures to antique dealers from around the world. She also enjoyed gardening and spent many hours tending to her home’s yard.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff on the H2 floor at Lawrence General Hospital and at the Merrimack Valley Hospice. They provided wonderful and compassionate care during Sonia’s last days.
