Shirley Christie Obituary

Shirley Mae Christie of Methuen, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, in Methuen. She was born on April 5, 1952, in Petersburg, Virginia and lived a life marked by family, friendship, and faith.

Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late William and Viola Thomas, and wife to the late Ervin Chrstie. She was a cherished sister to the late Theodore Jones, Mary Thomas, Viola and her husband, Robert Jones, William and his wife, Ruth Thomas, Aubrey Thomas, and Francis Thomas.

Family and faith were central pillars of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with those she loved. She is survived by her sister, Victoria and her husband, Jimmy Thomas of Lawrence, Massachusetts; her sons, Andre and his wife, Shannon Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona, and Dominque Christie and his wife, Cathy Christie of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Shirley was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, Andre and his wife, Damaris Thomas of Lowell, Massachusetts, Princetta Delgato of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Elijah Christie, Tyson Christie, and Angelica Christie of Haverhill, Massachusetts. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren.

Shirley grew up in Petersburg, Virginia and later moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts where she married and raised her children. She was a dedicated and faithful Christian, and her faith was a central part of her life and a source of great strength and comfort. She became a pastor, faithfully attended Rehoboth Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and was ordained to preach the word of God.

She devoted more than thirty years of service to Raytheon Technologies in Andover, Massachusetts. After retirement, she continued to work hard and at the time of her passing, Shirley was a dedicated employee of Home Sense in Salem, New Hampshire where she enjoyed many friends and much laughter. Her favorite pastimes included attending family gatherings, late night calls with her friends and loved ones, shopping with her sister, Victoria, and brunch at Maryann’s Diner in Salem, New Hampshire.

Those who knew her loved her for the support she always extended to others, and for her laughter. She was the matriarch of the family, and her presence and spirit will be deeply missed. Her life was one of devotion, hard work, and faith. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and co-workers and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Shirley has left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who love her and her physical absence will forever leave a void in our family.
