Sarah Maria Ramirez, 45, died peacefully at her home in Occidental, California on Saturday, February 12, 2023, after a brief and courageous fight with cancer.
The daughter of Frank and Mary T. (Martin) Ramirez, Sarah was born in Managua, Nicaragua on January 31, 1978. Sarah was loved by all who knew her and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to travel visiting Europe frequently and to Cuba and Central America. She did prepare for her final trip. While in hospice care, Sarah sought not only to learn something new about her dying, but to share her experience with love, dignity, and grace.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Frank and Mary T. (Martin) Ramirez; her devoted partner, Mr. Phil Schutt of Occidental, CA; her uncle and aunt, James Martin and Susan Perry of Methuen; her sister, Theresa V. Ramirez and her partner, Richard Poulin of Newbury, NH; and her brother, Alejandro and his fiancé, Cara Suriyamogkol of Nashville, TN. She also leaves a half-brother and sister, Franck and Xochilt Ramirez of New York. In Masya, Nicaragua, she is survived by her uncle, Darvin Ramirez and his wife Claudia, aunt Sayda Ramirez, and several cousins. She also left behind her childhood and to her last day best friend, Maritza Spindler of Methuen.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence
