Samia Firzli Obituary

Our dear love Samia Ferzli (Bati) sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 16th at Holy Family Hospital following a long illness. She will join the love of her life, her recently departed husband Nabil Bati.

Samia was born in Damascus, Syria to Hilal and Lodi (Hayek) Ferzly. She grew up in Syria, and graduated from Damascus State University with a Bachelor’s degree in French Linguistics. She had additional studies in France to advance her teaching skills.

Samia taught French for 35 years, touching the lives of over 8000 students. She was well known for excellence in her teaching skills, and personally she was known for the compassionate support and encouragement she gave to all of her students.

Samia lived in Virginia when Nabil was studying for his PhD degree and learned cake decorating. She became a professional cake decorator, always adding her special touch to each work of art. She loved cooking, and the presentation was always as beautiful as the taste.

Samia was a kind, loving person who touched the lives of many friends as well as her family, and we are all better for having known her. Her smiles and laughter made everyone feel loved, and that love will be in our hearts forever. Her faith was the strength that got her through her most difficult hours dealing with the loss of her love Nabil and dealing with a most difficult disease herself.

Samia is survived by her son Daniel of Methuen, MA.  She is survived as well by her sisters Souha Alfirzly and Rania Firzly, both of Damascus, Syria. She was predeceased by her brother Suleiman Firzly of Damascus, Syria. She is also survived by sister and brother in-laws: Michel and Diane Bati of Atkinson, NH; Sami Bati and Caterina Reinieri of Manlius, NY; Laila Marawy of Cedar Park, TX; as well as Lina and Roger Siouffey of Elk Grove, CA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Syria as well as the US.
