Ronald Simonian Obituary

Ronald T. Simonian (70) of Methuen passed away on September 4, 2019. He fought a courageous battle against one of the most aggressive brain cancers.

Ron was born on December 19, 1948 at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts. His parents were Suren and Vera Simonian. He attended grade school and high school in Methuen and received his bachelor's degree from Bradford College (Bradford/Haverhill). Musical theater was always part of his life and he performed in productions throughout the New England area. He lived in New York City for a while and performed in musical theater in that city, and then returned to Massachusetts. Interior design was a great interest and he started his own business called Rooms to Go. He had clients up and down the Eastern seaboard. California called and he moved to that state, living in San Diego for a while and then moving up to San Francisco. He worked at a large furniture store up and over the Golden Gate Bridge in North Bay, and continued his interior design business.

Ron had a minor degree in accounting and later worked for Meals on Wheels in San Francisco. Theater still filled his extra time and he performed in many productions and venues in the Bay Area. The City by the Bay was kind to Ron and he performed many leading roles at numerous theaters in the bay area. Ron's favorite musical was Ragtime but he never had a chance to perform in a production. Ron met his life partner, Arthur M. Munger (Art), in San Francisco. They enjoyed many years on Potrero Hill in the old Russian neighborhood. Ron eventually retired with his partner and moved back to Methuen to live in the family home on Merrimack Street.

Ron and Art discovered the joy of travel and took many cruises throughout the world; Europe, Asia, Australia, South America. There were future plans to vacation in Africa and visit Antarctica but Ron's adventures were cut short. Animals were a passion. He loved the bugs, birds, animals, and all God's creatures. He would never squish an ant or spider. The perfect man...kind, considerate, loving, and always part of happy and fun times.

Ron is survived by his life partner; Art Munger (Methuen); sister, Shirley Cusenza (Haverhill); niece and nephew, Deborah and Tom Coultas (Dracut); and his many cousins. His departing was preceded by his brother-in-law Louis Cusenza.

Ron's celebration of life party will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 (Thanksgiving Weekend), 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Simonian/Munger residence; 532 Merrimack Street, Methuen, Massachusetts, 01844.
