Roger Ouellette Obituary

Roger L. Ouellette – Methuen, MA

After a life full of immense love, creativity, and humor, Roger Leon Ouellette of Methuen, MA, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 26th, 2026. He won his courageous battle with cancer surrounded by all of the love that he created and shared over the course of 59 years with his wife, Sharon.

Roger was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on September 25th, 1943, to the late Raymond and Adrienne (Landry) Ouellette. He grew up in Methuen and was a lifelong resident. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961, he attended Fitchburg State University. Roger went on to build a remarkable 35-year career at Raytheon.

Following his retirement, Roger fulfilled his passion for caretaking at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall. As Caretaker, he took great pride in maintaining the grounds, planting flowers, gardening, and helping to support many summer organ concerts. Roger’s legacy of caretaking began through the life of service he and his wife built as active members of Saint Monica’s Parish in Methuen. Over the years, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, choir member, building committee member, CCD teacher, and Chairman of the Arts and Environment Committee. Roger was well known for the masterful holiday decor that he, his family, and his friends spent many hours creating for all to enjoy at Saint Monica’s.

Roger was truly a renaissance man. He possessed immense talent in gardening, floral arrangement, event decor, ceramics, painting and pie making. In addition to these crafts, he always enjoyed working on construction projects with his son, Mike. One of his proudest creations was the multi-generational home that he and his son built together twenty years ago.

Roger had a way of taking life’s simple treasures and turning them into beautiful masterpieces- a true metaphor for his life. He will be celebrated and remembered for the way he loved his family, the creativity he brought to everything he touched, and his spirited sense of humor. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh, a trait those who truly knew him will never forget.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, as well as his younger brothers, Albert Ouellette and Donald Ouellette.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon. Together, they shared 59 years of love and laughter, truly exemplifying the phrase “Love is Forever.” Roger enjoyed countless cruises with his wife and their best friends, Paul and Marie, traveling to destinations like Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean islands, Panama, and several European countries.

In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his three children and their spouses: Michael Ouellette and his wife, Josephine; John Ouellette and his wife, Amy; and Denise Johnson and her husband, Kevin. He is also fondly remembered as "Bumpa" by his seven grandchildren: Jason Ouellette and his wife, Emily; Joshua Ouellette and his wife, Gina; William Johnson and his wife, Hannah; Daelin Johnson, Morgan Ouellette, Zachary Ouellette, and Samantha Ouellette; as well as his five great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life: Amalia, Sianna, Jackson, Elea, and Sophia.

Roger is also survived by: his brother, Leopold Ouellette; his brother, Gerard Ouellette, and his wife, Charlotte; his sister, Huguette Fregeau; his sister-in-law, Dolores Ouellette; his brother-in-law, William Coughlan, and his wife, Cynthia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Roger’s dedicated children, Beacon Hospice, and Angelina Vasquez from Right at Home for providing him with loving and compassionate care.

A celebration of Roger’s life and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Monica’s Parish in Methuen on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Methuen Memorial Music Hall, P.O.
