Roger Edwin Gouldsbrough, 85, of Lawrence and formerly of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully at Mary Immaculate Nursing Center in Lawrence on Monday, September 5, 2022.
The son of the late Thomas and Helen (Rogers) Gouldsbrough, Roger was born in Methuen on January 30, 1937. He was educated in local schools. Roger had a longtime career driving dump trucks for many contractors in Northeastern Massachusetts. He also had his own small trucking business, R&R Truck’n. A longtime member of Lions Clubs International, Roger’s passion was being instrumental and providing eyeglasses to those in need. He regularly led or participated in fundraising events and loved bringing people together for a common cause. He played a large role in the Wilmington, MA and Beverly Hills, FL Lions Clubs. Roger was a longtime member and a second of the First Baptist Church of Wilmington, MA. Roger and his late wife, Sylvia enjoyed many family vacations RVing visiting National Parks, Disney World, battlefields in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. They enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Roger enjoyed gardening and pickling. He also enjoyed woodworking, having made wonderful items for his children, grandchildren, as well as friends. His church is thankful for a beautiful crafted cross that Roger made and donated . That cross currently hangs on the front of the Cowboy Church in Florida.
Roger was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Dunn) Gouldsbrough; son Robert J Gouldsbrough; brothers, Thomas Gouldsbrough Jr and Russel J. Gouldsbrough and sister, Gertrude Thompson. Roger is survived by his son, David R. Gouldsbrough of Somersworth, NH, two daughters, Lynn Gannino of Manchester, NH and Joan Harvey of Hillsboro, NH. He was Bumpy to nine grandchildren, Paul Gannino, Kristen Butler, Narrissa Dionne, Elizabeth Frazier, Nathan Gouldsbrough, Mark Gannino, Amanda Gannino, Jacob Harvey and Cameron Harvey, his sister Hazel Wronski, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 p.m.. Burial will be private.
