There is nothing in life that Bob loved more than his wife, children, baseball, and Cape Cod. He unexpectedly passed peacefully in Hyannis, MA, surrounded by his loved ones on February 28, 2026 at the age of 90.
Raised in Lawrence, MA, Bob attended Sacred Heart School and Central Catholic High School. Upon returning from the Army, he married his childhood sweetheart Vivian “Viv”(Beaulieu) Desharnais.
Bob lived a very full life. He worked at AT&T Technology for 35 years, raised a family of 6 boys, coached South Lawrence West Little League baseball for 13 years and Central Catholic baseball for 3 years. He also served as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. Upon retirement, they enjoyed 35 years of Cape Cod living.
Bob’s light lives on in Viv, his wife of 69 years, and 6 sons and their families including, Richard and wife Ellen from Edinburg, NY, Lenny and wife Judy from Franklin, NH, Ray and wife Sue from Freedom, NH, Mark and wife De from East Wakefield, NH, Eric and wife Marisa from Boxford, MA, and Brian and husband Riley from Traverse City, MI. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, along with many other relatives who will sadly miss him.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday April 10, 2026 at 10 am at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 S. Main St., Centerville, MA. Burial with military honors at 1:15 pm at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bennington Blvd., Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
