Robert Joseph Beland

Robert Joseph Beland (Bob, Chummy), 78, of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was the beloved husband of Christine (Kendall) Beland for 40 years.

He was born in Bromsgrove, England, January 3, 1946. Bob was the son of the late Herve and Lillian (Stokes) Beland. He was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. 

Bob worked at Crown Cork and Seal Company of Lawrence. He owned and operated C+B Tours out of Lawrence, where he and his wife enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City, Foxwoods, Philadelphia, New York, and Niagara Falls in Canada. He was a Poker Dealer with his wife at the Poker Room in Seabrook, NH, as well as at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH. He loved the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and New England Patriots. He also loved playing poker with his wife and his son, Bobby. He enjoyed family gatherings with all his grandkids, whom he was very proud of. He also loved to get his haircut from his daughter, Lucille.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Robert N. Beland, and his wife, Carolyn E. Beland, of North Andover, his daughters, Lucille A. Beland and Michelle Mercuri of Methuen, sisters: Carol Beland Couture, of Pelham, NH, and Barbara Beland, of Fitchburg, MA. Bob also leaves his 11 loving grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter as well as his nieces, nephews, greatnieces, greatnephews, cousins, and cherished friends. He was the brother of the late Denis W. Beland. 

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation made in Robert's name to the American Lung Association. The family would also like to thank the ICU Center at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for all their loving care and a special "thank You" to all who donated to Bob"s family.
