Richard Robert Pepin, 86 – Methuen, MA

Richard R. Pepin passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.  He was born in Lawrence on January 30, 1934 the son of the late Alphonse J. and Alma (Bergeron) Pepin.  He was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952.  Richard served his country in the U.S. Army where he qualified as a sharpshooter and was honorably discharged.  Richard had worked as a shipper / receiver for Sears and Roebuck for 15 years prior to his retirement.

Richard enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and socializing with friends at McDonald’s.  Richard volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America as a scout leader.  He was a communicant of St. Monica’s Parish in Methuen.

Richard is survived by his wife, with whom he has enjoyed 59 years of marriage, Mary Jane (Bedard) Pepin of Methuen, his sons, Richard P. Pepin and wife, Holly L. (Sunderland) of Riverview, FL and Jeffrey D. Pepin of Methuen, his daughters; Sheila D. Blache and husband, Michael of Sandown, NH, Shirley D. Kalil of Andover and Sharon D. Blache and husband, Jimmy of Londonderry, NH, his brother, Albert Pepin and wife, Claire of Manchester, NH, his sisters; Blanche LaSage and husband, Al of Methuen and Stella Perry and husband, Walter of Alexandria, VA.  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, Thomas R. Pepin, his brothers, Rene Pepin and Alphonse A. Pepin, his sister, Marie Berube, his son-in-law, Robert T. Kalil and his great-grandson, Kole G. Pepin.

Funeral services for Mr. Pepin are private and under the direction and care of Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  The family requests In-lieu of flowers that donations be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
