Richard R. Cripps

Richard R. Cripps, affectionately known as Rick or Ricky, died tragically on November 25, 2025, at the age of 68.

A lifelong Massachusetts native, Rick lived in Haverhill, MA, where he shared an independent and devoted life with his beloved wife of 26 years, Patricia “Pat” Hemond, who was truly the center of his world.

Rick lived with an intellectual disability, but his life was rich with purpose, routine, and love. He did not work outside the home; instead, his days were joyfully focused on Pat. Rick loved to walk and take the bus around town, proudly shopping for food and surprise gifts (especially stuffed animals!) to bring home to her. He loved exploring thrift shops and often found joy in discovering vintage items. Giving these gifts brought him great happiness, and his devotion to Pat defined his life.

Through his daily travels, Rick came to know many people in the community. Although he was hard of hearing and communication could sometimes be challenging, he was well-liked and warmly regarded for his gentle nature, friendliness, and determination. He valued his independence and took pride in navigating the world on his own terms. This independence was made possible by the invaluable support through the years by the caring staff at Waystone (formerly Fidelity House).

Rick is survived by his wife Pat, an older brother Albert, and three younger sisters Alice, Margaret, and Stacie. He will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, and the deep, unwavering love he shared with his wife.
