Richard R. Arcand – Lawrence, MA
Richard "The Arc" Arcand passed away at home after a long illness on Feb 28, 2024. Richard was born Dec 11, 1949 in Lawrence, MA and was the son of the late, Edmond and Mary (Robichaud) Arcand. He was the 9th child of four brothers and six sisters. He was raised and educated in Lawrence. He attended St. Patrick's Grammar School, Lawrence High School, and attended Berkley School of music. Richard was an accomplished guitarist and played in the local band "Here They Are". They were the winners of "The battle of The Bands "at the Frost Arena in 1966. He later went on to play in the band "Hombre", which was the house band at the Frolics in Salisbury Beach as well as The Five O'Clock Club. He was one of five musically talented brothers and six sisters. Richard enjoyed writing music as well as playing and collecting Guitars. He also loved fishing, going to Florida, as well as cars and antiques.
Richard was predeceased by his mother and father as well as his sisters Lillian Levesque and Nancy Terrio.
He is survived by sisters Juliana Zalanskas of Londonderry, NH, Mae and Bill Kalil of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Rosanna and Gerry Jardin of Dracut, MA., Celia Monty of Lawrence, MA. His brothers, Edmund and Deborah of Wakefield, NH, Billy and Susan of Palm Bay, FL., Peter and Sharon and Tom and Rhoda of Methuen, MA. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends, and Musicians also survive him.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 12 – 2 PM at Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 2:00 PM.
