THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MAMA REGINA CHE CHU

LOOKING AT THE PAST WITH OLD EYES

INTRODUCTION

Late MAMA REGINA CHU CHE was born on January 1st, 1948, of late Pa Dji Ndum Mam, and Ma Frida Mbong, both of Weh village of the Menchum Division of the North West Region of Cameroon.  She was the second child, and first female in a family of four, which comprised 2 females and 2 males.  With her demise to join her late elder brother, Pa Lucas Mueghe, she leaves behind 2 siblings, a brother and a sister.

MARITAL LIFE

Late Mama Regina got married to Pa Thomas Kah Che, of blessed memory, in 1966 (18 years old). They lived together happily. She was a very humble and respectful wife to Pah Che, and Pa used to remind us about their affection and commitment to each other, and that’s why he had no reason to get married to a second wife.

EDUCATIONAL LIFE

Mama Regina Che did the adult literacy program from 1966-1969 at Pungo Mature (Adult school) in Tiko subdivision of the South West Region of Cameroon. She also studied French by radio, learned how to say “BONJOUR Monsieur Makoge, Comment ca va, Ca va bien…..”. she also did an English language radio program called “Sama and Banla”. As we can see, Mama did no formal education, but these programs helped her to mix freely as she could express herself understandably.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Mama Regina was an agribusiness woman. She cultivated various cash crops like maize, huckleberry, potatoes, cocoyams, etc that we used as foodstuff at home, cassava that she successfully converted to garri, waterfufu, accra banana, etc before selling in various local markets for onward expedition to bigger towns in Cameroon, to support her husband cater for the pending needs of their kids. There was no day their children lacked food both at home, or during their educational life. Mom won’t resist to harvest even cocoyams to send to her children abroad, forgetting the fact that foodstuff weigh, whenever the opportunity arose. Else, the best organic vegetables, peanuts, beans, garri were off course sent abroad to her kids.

SOCIAL LIFE

Late Mama Regina was an honest, hardworking, generous, caring and a peace-loving woman. Reasons why she never stopped any of her children to pursue love out of Weh. Every moment spent with her was memorable, as she was receptive without boundaries. However, she never tolerated anyone to step on her toes, or who wanted to usurp what was her right.  She was very active in a series of social groups where she belonged. As a Recognition of her worth, she was selected as a Counselor in the Weh Traditional Council.

RELIGIOUS LIFE

Late Mama Regina Che was baptized and confirmed as a PCC Christian in 1966 at PCC Tiko by Rev. Ewang Joseph. She was dedicated into the CWF in 1968 in PCC Tiko, and was elected as the Vice President of the Group later that same year. Some years later, mama became an Adviser of the CWF Group. Because of her dedication and commitment, she was elected an elder 1989 in PC Weh Center, where she served for 10 years. Together with her late husband, they started a Prayer Cell in Usu quarter, Weh that subsequent grew to become PC Usu II, where she was elected and served as an elder for 11 years.  Due to the insecurity caused by the eminent crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, she moved to Yaounde, where she attended church service in PCC Etougbe until her Departure to the US last March 2024. Her membership into the CWF and Session of PCC was maintained until her demise on May 15th, 2024.

Late Ma Regina and Pa Thomas Che were blessed with 11 children of 9 deliveries. That is, she had 2 sets of twins who are all of blessed memory. She leaves behind, 2 siblings (a sister and a brother), five sons and 2 daughters, 36 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren., family, brethren and friends to mourn her.
