Philip Gabriel Obituary

Philip G. Gabriel, 92, a lifetime Lawrence resident, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, after a short illness.  Born in Lawrence on March 28, 1928, Phil was the son of William Mansour and Sadie (Hamman) Gabriel. 

Philip was raised along with his eight brothers and sisters in the Lebanese Plains neighborhood of Lawrence and was a parishioner of Saint Anthony Maronite Church. Phil was a graduate of Lawrence High School, served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1947.  He then worked as a Transportation Officer for the United States Air Force at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. Upon his return to Lawrence, Phil worked for 20 years at Honeywell Corporation until his retirement in 1987.

Philip was predeceased by his brothers, Louis Gabriel, James Gabriel, Thomas "Gabby" Gabriel and his wife, Clara, and William Gabriel; as well as his sisters, Ann Gabriel, Lillian Gabriel and Edith Gabriel. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law, May (Touma) Gabriel and his nephew, James Gabriel.

Philip is survived by his brother, Edward "Scotty" Gabriel; his niece, Marci Gabriel Poirier; and his four nephews Kenneth E. Gabriel, Edward J. Gabriel, Thomas Gabriel and Edmond Gabriel and their families; as well as many cousins including Kathleen Gabriel. Our family extends great thanks to Denise Deschaies for her friendship and caring compassion shown over these past years towards Phil.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Anthony Maronite Church located at 145 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Maronite Cemetery, North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation prior to liturgy on Saturday, January 23, 2021, from 9:45 to 10:25 am.at St. Anthony Maronite Church.
