Peter J. Torrisi – Methuen, MA

Peter J. Torrisi, 93, of Methuen, MA, and former 51-year resident of North Andover MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Born in Lawrence on August 26, 1930, Peter graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949.

Peter served in the U.S. Army from November 1951 until October 1953 and was a longtime member of the North Andover VFW.

After his military service, he joined the U.S. Postal Service; where he was employed for 35 years. Anywhere he went, Peter was recognized and warmly received by the families on his routes. 

“Da” (as his family called him) was a loving husband, father and grandfather. When he wasn’t working a second job to support his family, Peter helped his daughters deliver papers, or watched them participate in sports.  Da was very involved with his grandchildren whether he was watching them, taking them to and from school or simply out to eat.

Peter is survived by best friend and loving wife Rita of 62 years.

Da is also survived by his four daughters and their spouses.  Maria and Steve Kellerman of Methuen; Anne-Margaret and Gordon Bushnell of Newburyport; Gina and David Moynihan of Methuen; and Nina Torrisi of Methuen. 

He is also survived by his six grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Amanda Kellerman of Methuen; Alyssa Kellerman of Methuen; Kyle, Nicholas, and Hunter Bushnell of Newburyport and Zachary Moynihan of Methuen. One niece and nephew also survive him.
