Paul Manning, III Obituary

Mr. Paul L. Manning III, a longtime resident of Methuen, and beloved husband of Ruthann (Cushing) Manning, peacefully passed away with his wife by his side on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, He was 57 years old.

Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, Paul was the adored son of the late Paul L. Manning, Jr and Linda Jean (Rayen) Manning and the cherished stepson of the late Judith A. (Paulsen) Manning.  Paul was a graduate of Andover High School and UMASS Amherst and went on to have a successful career in Logistics Management at Supervalu in Andover and then Land Air in Manchester, NH until his health forced early retirement.

Paul was a special soul.  A man of few words with the largest heart, Paul was a natural caretaker, provider, and teacher.  He was proud and compassionate with a natural curiosity for life and learning. Paul was a wonderful listener, always up to date and interested, making everyone he engaged with feel special.  He had a funny, and surprisingly dry, sense of humor and loved all music; there was always music playing. Paul- especially loved a good concert, any live music or festival, finding an Irish bar, listening to Irish music, having a Guiness and making a new friend.  He loved being in his home too, sitting by the pool in the summertime or inside by the fire during the colder days. He especially enjoyed camping with his lifelong friends, football Sundays, and mostly the many simple gatherings in the home that he and Ruthie loved where he could catch up with those he cared most about surrounded by good food, music, a cigar, roaring fire, a pint of Guiness, his dog by his side. Paul lived life on his own terms, proud, humble, selfless, caring and leading by example, never complaining even when his health was challenged. He persevered with strength and courage and remained steadfast in his goal to share his best life.  He loved his family, friends and pets, and above all else, cherished his wife, Ruthie.  He was an exceptionally devoted husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who was actively involved in all of their lives.  Paul’s eternal selflessness, kind and beautiful soul, and warm heart will be forever with us.

In addition to his wife Ruthann, Paul is survived by his sisters Whitney, and her husband Paul Keeley of Windham, New Hampshire; Melissa and her husband Anthony Morgante of Andover, and Rebecca and her husband Justin Zuill of Bedford, New Hampshire; sisters- and brothers-in-law Loretta and David Gangi of North Andover; and Ronald and Karen Cushing and Russell Cushing, all of Melbourne, Florida. He is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews Jacqueline and Katrina Gangi, Madyson and Adeline Keeley, Anthony and Linda Morgante and Savannah and Owen Zuill. He was predeceased by his dear late brother David A. Manning as well as many other loving family members and friends.  He was especially devoted to and adored by his family pets, Millie and Fergus, and the late Brigid, Heather, Dublin and Shannon.
