Nancy R. Rushton

Nancy R. Rushton, 87 of Methuen passed away on Thursday January 14, 2021.  Mrs. Rushton was born, raised and educated in Lawrence and has lived in Methuen for the past 60 years.

Nancy was a graduate of The New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at various healthcare facilities including The New England Deaconess Hospital, Lawrence General Hospital and The Berkeley Retirement Home.  She was a longtime active member of The United Methodist Church, Lawrence and is presently a member of the Forest Street Union Church, Methuen. She was also a member of The Berkeley Retirement Home Women’s Advisory Board where she participated in many activities, fundraisers and the Annual May Fair.

Nancy enjoyed square dancing, needlework, reading, camping and especially traveling in her retirement years with her husband.

Nancy leaves her husband of 65 years, Norman  A. Rushton.  Nancy met Norman on a blind date on Friday the 13th in June, 1952 when he was stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base. Her family members also include her daughter Laura Young and her husband Brian, her sons, Richard Rushton and his wife Linda and Robert Rushton and his wife Margaret. Nancy also leaves her grandchildren, Danielle, Jason, Erica, Jeremy and her great grandson Brayden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown MA, the Forest Street Union Church of Methuen, MA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
