Maurice "Rene" St.Germain 90, of Methuen died Sunday May 13th at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Maurice was born in Amesbury Massachusetts to the late Hormidas and Eveline (Brouillard) St.Germain.
He was a graduate of Amesbury High School in 1945. He enlisted to the U.S. Navy, serving on ships as an electrician in Pacific fleet in post-WWII. After honorable discharge, he pursued engineering degrees from Franklin Institute and Lowell Tech.
He was a loving husband to Theresa (Fontaine) St.Germain, having recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He was also a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother and will be remembered for his sense of humor, willingness to help others, and his clever ability to fix practical problems.
Maurice was known as “Moe” to friends and colleagues. He worked as an electrical engineer at various high tech companies, ending with a long career as a Facilities Engineer at Raytheon in Andover. He attended St. Lucy's Church in Methuen and also served as a bingo volunteer at that parish for a number of years. He was a dedicated Boston sports fan and loved playing golf with his brothers after retirement. He routinely met with fellow retirees to enjoy each others stories.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa (Fontaine) St.Germain of Methuen, his daughters Eileen Peate and her husband Bob of Windham N.H., Gail Waitt and her husband Monty of Methuen, and his son Alan St.Germain and his partner Debra Joy of Haverhill. Also among his survivors are his siblings Roger St.Germain of Andover and Pauline Macey of Salisbury. He leaves his eight grandchildren Lisa (Peate) Corlito and her husband Christopher Corlito, Lauren (Peate) Chesnard and her husband Thomas Chesnard, Ryan Waitt and his wife Tanya, Justin Waitt and his wife Jessica, Brandon Waitt, Nathan St. Germain and his wife Sarah, Lea St. Germain and her husband Martin Valiton, and David St. Germain. He was blessed with having eight great grandchildren and as well as many nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his brother (Florent) Joseph St.Germain and sister Doris Marsolais.
Calling hours will be at Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, on Saturday May 19 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
