Mary E. (Leoncyk) Williams, 97, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
The daughter of the late Geronym and Amelia (Amshay) Leoncyk, Mary was born in Lawrence on October 30, 1923. She was educated in Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She received her B. S. Degree in Nursing from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She received her license as a Registered Nurse (R. N.) from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mary served in World War II in the United States Army Nurse Corps, as a 1st Lieutenant. After her discharge, she was employed as a R. N. at Lawrence General Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. Mary enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and cooking. She was a member of the former St. Francis Church of Lawrence, and was a lifelong Lawrence resident.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Beaudoin and her husband Michael of Lawrence, and Mary Ann Hollingsworth-Decker and her husband Charles Decker of Lawrence and Ft. Myers, FL; sons, John Williams and his wife Mary of Lawrence and Michael Williams of Lawrence; 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve Nault of Atkinson, NH , and a brother, Frank Leoncyk of Salem, NH, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by two brothers Joseph and Walter Leoncyk, and three sisters Anna Leoncyk, Helen Leoncyk and Emily Murphy.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 , from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial in the Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks must be worn with social distancing observed.
