Mary Mueller Obituary

My Mom, Mary to most, was a Christmas Eve baby in 1941, I am sure becoming quite the Christmas Gift for my grandparents!

Mary Margaret (Palazzo) Mueller, 80 of Methuen passed away on Sunday August 7, 2022 at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was a Class of ‘59 graduate of Lawrence High School, and a huge supporter of her beloved Lancers football team.

Mary was the daughter of Louis and Theresa (DeRosa) Palazzo and sister to Lou (Sonny) and Margaret (Peggy). She moved to Methuen in 1960, where she lived most of her life in the family home.

Like her father and brother, Mom loved to bowl and spent a lot of time at the local bowling alleys.  Along with Lou and Peggy, referred to as the kid sister, the family spent a lot of time playing and working around her maternal grandparent’s farm in the West End of Methuen, likely eating more fresh peas, beans, grapes, and rhubarb that they brought in for dinner.

As life went on, bookkeeping became her profession and passion.  Her checkbook was always balanced.  Much to her chagrin, I did not inherit that particular gene.

She went on to work as a bookkeeper at several companies throughout her professional career, including PT Brake Lining, National Surface Cleaning, and most recently, Methuen Construction where she met a true and wonderful friend in Leon Asadoorian.

Throughout her career, she met many long-cherished friends, including Brian Walsh, her son from another mom.  I still think she liked him better than me.

Mom enjoyed her retirement years, having a far busier social calendar than my wife and I.  Whether bowling, playing cards with “the girls”, Dee, Nancy, and Edwina (sorry if I missed anyone!), working in her gardens, going on her weekly drive to Hampton to watch the fireworks with friends, or just chatting with her lifelong friend Pearl, Mom truly enjoyed her life.  In fact, she has told of so many close friends over the years, I am sure I’ve neglected to mention more than a few.

She leaves behind my wife, Kellie (Perrault) Mueller and myself of Dracut, her kid sister Peggy and husband Ron Meyer and their son Lance of Greenland NH, her sister-in-law Pat Palazzo and her son Lou Jr of Salem, NH, as well as several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents, Louis and Theresa, her older brother Lou, and the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) Hunter.

It’s been a long road, but It’s time to dance again.  Bobby is waiting.

I love and miss you.
