It is with deep sadness that the family of Margarita M. Cusack 89, of Methuen announces her passing on the morning of Tuesday, January 13th at the Nevins Nursing Center, Methuen, 4 days shy of her 90th birthday. Born on January 17, 1936 in Lawrence, MA the daughter of Harold and Margarita “Rita” Burns, they briefly moved to Washington, DC in her teenage years before returning to the area.
Known affectionately throughout the family as “Honey”, Margarita attended Lawrence High School and then graduated from Merrimack College with her Business Administration degree. She retired from New England Telephone Company as a customer support representative where she had worked for many years. Margarita and her best friend and husband of 56 years, Eugene, attended many of their grandchildren’s sporting events and programs. She loved their winter trips to Florida and their summers in Maine, as the beach was always calling to her as place where she could sit peacefully in nature and read her novels.
Margarita welcomed all. No one would go without food, a friendly smile or hear her hearty laugh to help lift their day. If you were a friend of Margarita, you were family.
Margarita’s family members include her daughter, Patricia Cusack Cyr of Methuen. She also leaves her grandchildren, Collin, Evan, David, and Tyler; two great-grandchildren and many friends, all of whom she called family. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene “Grampy” and her son Eugene “Gene”, Jr.
