Madeleine D Giroux

Madeleine D. (Dubois) Giroux, 91, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

The daughter of the late Henry W. and Lucina (Ouellette) Dubois, “Maddie” was born in Methuen on January 14, 1932, and grew up in Methuen with sixteen loving brothers and sisters.  This made for some very large and happy family outings later on.  She went to Mount Carmel School in Methuen, and later worked in the shoe factories of Lawrence.  On a weekend in 1952, she met her future husband, Alfred, while ballroom dancing at the Casino at Hampton Beach.  She married Alfred upon his return from military service overseas.  Maddie raised four boys taking them on weekend outings and vacations to the mountains, beaches, fairs, parks, lakes, museums and historical events, while teaching them great values about the life she wanted them to live and believed in.  A deeply, religious member of St. Monica’s Parish, she accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her Savior.  Soft-spoken and very caring, she will be sorrowfully missed by so many.

Madeleine was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, and granddaughter, Michele Marie, and also thirteen of her sixteen loving brothers and sisters of which three remain; Cecile, Marcelle, and Gertrude.  Madeleine is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law; Paul and Betty Giroux of Methuen, Mark and Dianne Giroux of Methuen, David and Dollie Giroux of Salem, NH, and Daniel and Laurie Giroux of Norridgewock, ME; and her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Theresa’s Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen.  Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
