Luis "Polan" Paula Obituary

Luis F. Paula “Polan” passed away peacefully and quietly surrounded by loved ones after battling a brief but aggressive illness on Saturday January 29, 2022, in Lawrence, Ma.

Polan was born on December 12, 1946, to Florentino Paula and Rosa Moronta de Paula in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic.  He lived most of his life in the Dominican Republic and grew up working with his hands.  As a young man he naturally gravitated to the Construction Field where he learned all matters of big equipment operation which became his life’s work until he retired.

In 2002 fate would have him reconnect with his high school sweetheart and not only was his youth found again but a new family which he deeply cared for as well.  Those who knew him will remember his kindness, humility, and natural enjoyment of life. He had a serious love of baseball only to be matched with his love of a good flea market and of course those scratch tickets.  He also loved visiting his Homeland especially during Holy Week.  Mostly, he loved his family and enjoyed all the family gatherings and the weekend get-togethers with friends.

Predeceased by his parents, his brother Hector Bienvenido Paula Moronta of Dominican Republic and niece Rosanna Francisco Paula of Dominican Republican, he is survived by his wife, Virginia Paula of Lawrence, his two daughters: Mary and her partner Karl of Andover, MA, Ivanka and her husband Gary of Methuen, MA, his grandchildren: Aaliyah and her husband Tyler of Methuen, MA, Grayson and Jadler, his sister Luz Maria Paula viuda Francisco of Dominican Republic, a niece Leslie Francisco Paula of Dominican Republic, and nephews: Ramon Orlando Paula Guzman of New Jersey, Conrado Antonio Francisco Paula of Dominican Republic, Hector Junior Paula Guzman of Lawrence, and Hector Luis Paula Quezada of New York as well as many family and friends in Dominican Republic, Massachusetts, Florida, and New York.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Mr. Paula’s funeral procession will begin on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10am at Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
