Luis Ogando Obituary

On Friday, December 11, 2020, Luis Guillermo Ogando, beloved husband and father of four children, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Luis was born on February 10, 1951 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Teodoro Ogando and Ildefonsa Lorenzo (de Ogando).   He had his first marriage with Teresa Mayra Brito. He earned his licensure in corporate accounting in the Dominican Republic from Universidad Dominicana O&M in 1976. He had a second marriage with Francisca Milagros Contreras.

Luis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend. His zest for life and his light sense of humor were palpable to all who met him.  Luis was humble, hard-working, predisposed to service, and he was gifted by God with many talents, including singing and dancing, to bring joy to those who surrounded him. He enjoyed fishing, the warmth of good company, fresh air and nature, and good food and drinks.

Luis’ passing leaves a void in our hearts, as he touched so many in his signature way, but on many occasions he expressed his desire to be remembered joyfully. Let us honor his memory by celebrating life, spreading love and cheer, putting our talents to the service of God, and remaining, as he was, “siempre alegre.”

Luis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Luis Aryam, Ariel Luis, Katherine Jovanna, and Luis Samuel, his wife, brothers Diomedes and Teodoro, and sisters Austria, Carmen, Juana Altagracia. He is cherished and missed by his son-in-law Adrian Williams, grandchildren Kai Adrian Williams-Ogando, Kamryn Aspacia Williams-Ogando, Gideon Francis Ogando, Koryn Alma Williams-Ogando, Luis Saul Ogando, Luis Samil Ogando, and Heilyn Ogando.

Funeral services and burial will be private.  Arrangements are by the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.  To leave an online condolence, please visit Luis’s tribute page at www.dewhirstbolesfuneral.com.
