Lorraine I. Sunderland

Lorraine I. (MacVicar) Sunderland, age 90, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Lorraine was born to Isabelle (Ripley) MacVicar and Lensworth MacVicar on January 12, 1934 in Methuen, MA. Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Methuen, MA, graduating from Searles High school in 1951. Lorraine met and married, George Sunderland of Lawrence, MA in 1955. They had two Daughters, Faith and Holly.

Lorraine worked at Liberty Mutual in Andover, MA retiring after 40 years. She spent the 32 Years of her retirement traveling with her husband George visiting Meredith, NH and the white Mountains, to Newburyport and Cape Cod. 

She also enjoyed traveling and making new friends through Cosmopolitan Travel Agency in Methuen, MA. A few of Lorraine's favorite trips were to Branson, Missouri, Mackinac Island and riding the travel bus on the NASCAR race track.

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, brother Edwin MacVicar, her husband, George and her great grandson, Kole Pepin. She is survived by and deeply missed by her Children, Faith and Jeff DiMario; Holly and Rick Pepin, her 10 grandchildren, Richard Pepin and Connie Sumner, Amanda Pepin and Melissa Kogoy, Lorisa and Brian Long, Krystle and Miguel Oleaga and Mariana Pietrangelo and Andrew Oliveira She also leaves her 12 great grandchildren; Lucy, Lincoln, Daniel, Esmeray, Rocco, Harleigh, Lisa, Piper, Parker, Miguel, Elizabeth and Maleena.

Lorraine was a lover of the color purple. We encourage purple dress for her funeral service.

Lorraine’s family extends a special thank you to the ICU Staff at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen and High Pointe Hospice House for their wonderful, compassionate care.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday October 22, 2024 from 9am to 11am at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or a Charity of choice.
