Lorraine Laverriere Obituary

Lorraine Laverriere – Methuen, MA

Lorraine Laverriere of Methuen, MA passed away peacefully at 87 years old at Lawrence General Hospital on Monday, February 3, 2025 after a brief battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on January 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Beatrice and Louis Moreau of Lawrence, MA, and former wife of deceased Philip F. Laverriere, Sr. Lorraine was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a proud graduate of Lowell University and received her graduate degree in Community Social Psychology. She was an avid scholar and never stopped researching whatever interested her and always had piles of books with color-coded bookmarks throughout them all, even though she was legally blind with rapidly failing eyesight. In her younger days she avidly made knitted and crocheted clothes and eventually shawls for those with illnesses. She loved paper crafts. Lorraine also was a poet and had her poems in multiple small publications throughout her lifetime.

Lorraine was a devote Catholic and was most proud of her Marist Sister Third Order of Mary appointment. She loved praying daily and having deep conversations about faith, God’s grace and the surety of Jesus and Mary’s love.

Most of all she loved her children, family, and friends very deeply. She enjoyed creating home-made cards for years and giving notes to those she cared about. She was generous and kind and always made comments about how much she “loved nurses” and the wonderful care she received from medical staff who supported her to live her best life.

She loved cats and always had one by her side for her life. Her recent feline friend and devoted companion “Little Dolly” passed away only 9 months before her and was greatly missed by all who met her. Lorraine enjoyed life greatly.

Family members include daughter Rebecca Laverriere of Warwick, RI, and twin to son Philip “Chip” Laverriere, Jr of Roseburg, OR; youngest son Toby Laverriere, and companion Kelly Campbell of Lawrence, MA; granddaughter Jazmine Laverriere, of Suncook, NH; step-daughters Frances Landry, of Salem, NH; Patricia Rodewald and her husband Michael of North Andover, MA; Maureen LaPlume and her husband Jerry of Salem, NH; sister Jane Simone of Methuen, MA; niece Cheryl Bigham, husband Craig, and great-nephew Matthew of Methuen, MA; sister-in-law Lucy Moreau, wife of predeceased brother Joseph of Methuen, MA, and nephews Greg and Jason Moreau; brother Dennis Moreau and wife Faye, of Pennsylvania; sister Elaine Wheeler and husband Gerald of Utah. She was predeceased by her sisters Joan Sousa of Cambridge, MA; Louise Muise of Washington, DC; and brothers Richard, John, and David. She also leaves her faithful and loyal aide and friend Maritza Izzett of Lawrence, MA, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and of course, friends.
