Lori Bertrand Obituary

Lori Bertrand – Salem, NH

Lori Bertrand age 61 of Salem, NH died at home surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Lori was a 1977 graduate from Methuen high school. She was employed with Commencement photos of Tewksbury, Ma. for 17 years, from there she had many volunteer jobs including the president of the Salem animal rescue league for 12 years, where she also helped lead transports of dogs from the southern states to find homes in the New England area. She cofounded Missing dogs Massachusetts and helped rescue hundreds of lost dogs through Granite State Dog Recovery.

She created a Family business with her sister Lisa, A Pet Sitter 4U which she has run for over 10 years. Her passion for helping others in times of need was just amazing, she would run raffles, hold auctions, help food pantries, collect for toys for tots, pick up broken bicycles to be fixed up and given to children that were in need.

She was the most giving, selfless, hard-working person that would drop everything to help others in need, whether it was a human or a four-legged animal. Lost animals tended to gravitate and find their way to her when they were looking for help. She reunited countless dogs and cats with their owners over the years.

Her most enjoyable moments were spending time with her friends and family. When she was younger, she loved to ski and had a passion for photography. She took countless vacations and loved her family dinners and treasured her time with her pets including her beloved dog Flipper.

anyone who knew Lori knew about her heartfelt love for Mickey Mouse, over the years she had a massive collection of Mickey memorabilia. This Christmas when she came home from the hospital her friend surprised her with a Mickey Mouse Christmas tree. She would light up when she looked at it. Any time she was given anything with Mickey Mouse on it, it always made her smile.

She leaves behind her father Ray Otis of Methuen and she was pre-deceased by her mother Helen Otis who passed away just 11 months ago from pancreatic cancer. She leaves her sisters Lisa Burdin of Methuen and her boyfriend Doug Gilmour, Leslie Scholtz and her husband Rick of Methuen, her treasured nieces and nephews who she was very close to. Scott Burdin and his wife Lindsay, Samantha Burdin and their father Keith Burdin, Adam and Tori Scholtz.  She was also predeceased by her husband Jack Bertrand. She leaves behind many friends that we will forever be grateful for their love, kindness and immeasurable support throughout her illness.

Her family would also like to acknowledge the kind, sincere and incredible support from the New Hampshire Hospice Team.

With regards to theCOVID-19 situation and to keep everyone safe, arrangements will be private.  Lori's family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Lori when the COVID-19 Pandemic is less of an issue and family and friends can gather without the fear of COVID infection.
