Loran E “Les” Sullivan, 73 of Georgetown, MA died Tuesday November 4, 2020 at Anna Jaques hospital in Newburyport following a lengthy illness.
Loran leaves his long time love, Bette, his wife of 50 years, his son Loran, Jr and spouse Kate and his granddaughter Riley. He also leaves his sisters Donna Morgan and her husband Patrick Of Peabody, Ma, Robin Sullivan and her husband John Gillen of Hampton, NH and his sister-in-law Anna Long of Baddeck,Nova Scotia, Canada and Sharyn Cunningham of East Longmeadow , Ma. and his brother-in-law Walter Delano as well as many nieces, nephews and lifetime friends and neighbors. Les was predeceased by his Brothers-in-law Clarence Long and Butch Cunningham and his sister-in-law Barbara Delano.
Loran met Bette at the Brockton Fair horse show. It was love at first site. They married five months later. They opened a small boarding stable. He attended Cornell University School and became a farrier. Loran also worked for over 30 years at the Aulson Company of Methuen. He served in the US Army from 1968 until 1970 as a medical assistant. He received the good conduct medal, national Defense Service medal and Expert M-14 medal. He was a passionate man, loved all animals and could fix anything he put his hands too. He helped so many people. All you had to do was say “Loran I need help” and he was always there for you. He will be dearly missed!
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours (practicing social distancing and current precautions) on Monday November 9, 2020 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Tuesday November 10 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown, MA.
