Linda Leavitt Obituary

Linda Jean Leavitt – Merrimac, MA

Linda Jean Leavitt, known lovingly as Lyn, was born on April 12, 1965, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and she passed away on May 18th 2026, in Boston MA, after a brave battle with a stroke. Lyn lived a life of warmth and grace, with kindness shining on her face. She was the daughter of Frances and Andrew Waring, and she carried their love through every day and every season, A woman whose tender heart and steady strength gave others hope and reason.

She was the beloved wife of Kevin Leavitt, and together they shared a life full of devotion, laughter, and care, and she was a proud mother whose love for her son Josef Leavitt was always there. Lyn treasured her granddaughter, Lily Gianna Leavitt, with joy so deep and true, And the light she found in being “Lyn” was seen in everything she said and did, and in all she chose to do. Her siblings, Donna Gagne, William and Lori Waring, held a special place in her heart, close and bright, and she cherished family ties that helped shape her gentle, loving light. She also held dear Khristen Platon and Billy Gagne, Cristian and Loren Dellanno, and Maddox Sandman and Hayden Petitpas, too, For the bonds of niece and nephew love were among the treasures she always knew.

Lyn graduated from Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical High School with a certificate in cosmetology, a proud achievement that set her path in motion, and she carried that skill into a hairdressing career that became the heartbeat of her lifelong devotion. She did not simply style hair, for she helped people feel seen, confident, and whole, and with every chair she filled and every story shared, she lifted spirit and soul. She inspired many along the way, with her passion burning steady and bright, and her niece Loren was among those touched by Lyn’s guiding light. Through every snip and style, through every mirror’s gleam, she built more than beauty; she helped others believe in their dream.

A Catholic in faith, Lyn lived with a heart that reached toward love and grace, and her spirit reflected that faith in every time and place. She was passionate, loving, and thoughtful, too, the kind of soul whose care made hard days easier to get through. She found joy in snowmobiling, feeling winter air with delight, and in gardening, where she tended life and watched it bloom in sight. She loved playing and dancing with her new granddaughter, sharing joy that could not be confined, and beach trips, brunch, smiles, laughter, and dancing were woven into the fabric of her mind.

She loved her car, she loved her neighbors, and she loved a great deal indeed, and she gave her affection freely, without condition or need. Her days were filled with motion, with music, with bright and happy cheer, and those who knew her best could always feel her presence near. Though her passing brings sorrow that words cannot fully contain, her memory will live on through love that time cannot restrain. For Lyn was the kind of woman whose kindness never passed away, and her laughter, her tenderness, and her energy will always stay. As Maya Angelou wrote, “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud,” a line both gentle and wise, And Lyn did just that through loving words and caring eyes. She brought color to the lives she touched, with sweetness in every part, A rainbow of compassion and courage, with a generous and open heart.

Now may she rest in peace and light, beyond all pain and earthly night, surrounded by everlasting love, and held in heaven’s gentle sight. Linda Jean “Lyn” Leavitt will be remembered for the beauty she gave and the lives she blessed, A passionate, loving, thoughtful woman now peacefully at rest.
