Leon M. "Porky" Vartanian

Leon M. (Porky) Vartanian, Sr., 90 of Lawrence passed away on Thursday May 16, 2019 at Lawrence General Hospital.  Mr. Vartanian was born and raised in Methuen and was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School.  He was also a graduate of Nichols College.  Leon worked at Raytheon Company of Andover and also worked as a self-employed house painter.  He was an avid card player and a “fixture” at Rockingham Park.

Leon was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Louise (Hamalian) Vartanian.  His family members include his son, Lee Vartanian, Jr. of Lawrence and his daughter, Debbie and her husband Joseph Cronin of Wells, Maine. He also leaves 2 granddaughters,  Kolleen and her husband Ryan Lynch of Rockwall, Texas and Kelly and her husband Jason Maguire of Andover as well as 4 great granddaughters.
