Kathryn T. “Kay” Espinola, 88, of Haverhill, met her Maker peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at her home.
The daughter of the late Manuel and Rose (Picanso) Espinola, Kay was born in Methuen, MA on September 14, 1935. Kay was educated in the Methuen School System, and was one of the students from the last graduating class of the Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1953. During the summer of 1953, she received her Certificate in Office Machine Technology from Burrough’s Office Machine School in Boston. After 40 years of loyal service, she retired from New England Life Insurance Company in Boston. Residing in Methuen most of her life, Kay enjoyed travelling and volunteering at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was very active in the Methuen Activity Center for many years, serving on the Executive Board at the center. Kay was a parishioner of the former Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Lawrence, and also attended the former St. Francis Church in Lawrence. After the closing of both churches, she became a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Rosary, now Holy Rosary Shrine, where she was very active in many church activities. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Helping Hands Ministry both at Holy Rosary Shrine.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Rose Espinola, her sisters, Josephine Richardi of Braintree, MA, and Evelyn Cardin of Nashua, NH, her brothers, Edward of California and Alvin of Winthrop, MA. Kay is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews residing in Massachusetts, Connecticut, California, New Hampshire and Maine.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, M 01844. A Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Shrine, Union St., Lawrence, MA 01840. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s Memory to Holy Rosary Shrine, 34 Common St., Lawrence, MA 01840, or to the Methuen Activity Center, 77 Lowell St., Methuen, MA 01844.
