June Anita (Walker) Robert of Methuen passed away after a brief illness at Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital on September 30, 2025. At the time, she was a resident of the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
June was born in Methuen, MA on June 6, 1931, the first daughter of William H. Walker and Anita (Reuter) Walker.
She attended the Methuen Public Schools, graduating from Searles High School in 1949. She subsequently enrolled in the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1952.
After some years in Connecticut and Rhode Island, the family moved back to the Merrimack Valley, settling in Salem, NH.
She went back to her Alma Mater at Lawrence General Hospital, and wound up working there for over 30 years, as a nurse on the Medical-Surgical floors, later in the Intensive Care Unit and, finally, in the Hospital’s Detox Unit. In 1975, she produced a series of historic sketches depicting the evolution of the Hospital and its buildings to commemorate the Hospital’s 100th Anniversary.
June was also a 25-year volunteer for The Samaritans of the Merrimack Valley.
After a brief detour in the 1980s, when she worked for a while as an Account Executive at the Haverhill Gazette, she later returned to her chosen industry, providing in-home care for developmentally disabled patients as an employee of WORK, Inc., until her retirement in 2012 at the age of 81. After living for many years at the Washington Place Apartment complex in Methuen and spending nine winters with her son in West Palm Beach, she moved to the Nevins Home in December of 2024.
June was married to Allen John Robert from 1952 to 1981, when he passed away suddenly.
She is survived by her sister Charlotte (Walker) Ellis of West Palm Beach, FL, as well as four sons and two daughters, Chris John Robert and his wife Brenda of Lawrence; Mark Allen Robert and his wife Colleen of Lawrence; Debra Lee Shapiro (widow of Steven Shapiro) of Manchester, NH; Paul David Robert of West Palm Beach, FL; Donna Mae Attardi and her husband Joseph of Haverhill, MA and William Scott Robert and his wife Stacey of Salem, NH.
