Julia (Wielowiejski) Klisiewicz, 99, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Lawrence General Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
The daughter of the late Jozef and Rozalia (Pazdziora) Wielowiejski, Julia was born in Borzecin, Poland on February 21, 1923. She was raised and educated in Poland. Julia was a survivor of the Nazi occupation of Poland during World War II, and postwar Soviet occupation of Poland. She worked on the family farm while raising her five children. She came to the United States in 1974 with her daughter, settling in Lawrence. She was employed in the housekeeping department at Merrimack College, and later as a packer at the former Essem Packing Company of Lawrence, for many years, until her retirement. She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Parish of Lawrence, until its closing in 2004, and later became a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence. A devout Catholic, Julia was a member of the Ladies Polish Rosary Group. Julia enjoyed gardening, cooking, travelling, crocheting, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her husband, Teofil Klisiewicz, and son, Jozef Klisiewicz, Julia is survived by two daughters, Czeslawa Pelczar, who was her caretaker, of Lawrence, and Maria Stolarz of Poland, two sons, Jan Klisiewicz and his wife Izabela of Poland, and Tadeusz Klisiewicz of North Andover, a daughter-in-law, Wladyslawa Klisiewicz of Poland; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Pelczar, James Pelczar, Joanna and Jim Bruno, David and Melissa Klisiewicz, Daniel and Cathy Klisiewicz, Slawomir Klisiewicz, Janusz and Agnieszka Klisiewicz, Jadzia Klisiewicz, Sister Anna Klisiewicz, Justyna and Bartek Knap, Elzbieta and Mariusz Czarny, Marcin and Natalia Stolarz. Locally, she is survived by five great, grandchildren; James Christopher Thyne, Katie Thyne, Alexander Pelczar, Nella Bruno and Christian Klisiewicz, along with ten great, grandchildren in Poland, and one great, great grandchild. Julia was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Ewa Klisiewicz, sisters, Janina and her husband Julian Guzy, Maria Klisiewicz, Helena and her husband Julian Chwalek, a brother and his wife Jozef and Rozalia Wielowiejski, and sons-in-law, Stanley Pelczar and Waclaw Stolarz.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Shrine, Essex St., Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
