Joyce M. Sparta

Joyce M. (Ball) Sparta, 87, passed away September 16, 2024, at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. Joyce was born on July 26, 1937, and was a lifelong resident of Methuen. She graduated from Tenney High School and Addison Gilbert Hospital School of Nursing, Gloucester, MA. Joyce was a nurse and had several other jobs after becoming a mother.

Our earth angel became a real angel.  Everyone who knew Joyce knew she was the biggest social butterfly.  She became best friends with everyone she met. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother.  She was her family’s biggest supporter in everything they did. She loved having a good time and sports – especially golf and watching her grandchildren play basketball, football, cheer leading, hip hop dancing, soccer and volley ball. She made the best Italian food and loved to host dinner parties with family and friends. She was a fashionista, very independent and loved to go shopping and out to lunch. She loved Jesus, America and their Florida vacation home. Our lives will never be the same without her, but we know she will be with us every step of the way.

Joyce is survived by her husband Paul Sparta, daughters Paula (Sparta) Campbell and Pamela (Sparta) Hayes, grandchildren Danielle McGrail, Justin Hayes, Kylie Scoggins and her husband Kyle Scoggins, Tori Hayes, Callie McGrail, Justice McGrail and Brooklynne McGrail. She also leaves her great, great grandchildren Jaycien McGrail, Myla Swasey, Kaliyah Quiroz-McGrail; sister Marilyn (Ball) Logan and her husband Robert Logan; In-Laws Samuel and Bernadette Sparta, Martha Sparta, and Samuel Indurre;  as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday September 24, 2024 from 10 am to Noon at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 90 Broadway Methuen. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at Noon on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 90 Broadway St., Methuen, MA 01844.
